The agro-food industry plays an important role in the EU economy, generating approximately 6% of the EU GDP and employing over 48 million people. However, there are many problems that need to be addressed to improve the economic growth and competitiveness of this industry.

Problems that must be addressed:

  • Too few individuals develop industry-specific qualifications at the university level.
  • A gap exists between the skills that are actually required by employers and universities.
  • Too little communication occurs among relevant stakeholders.

Who should apply?

Graduate students with a background in agriculture, agricultural economics, life science, business studies, or economics with an interest in the agro-food sector.

Top universities from across Europe and two companies in the agro-business sector are joining together to build a competitive and intensive study programme (ISP) to tackle these problems. The programme consists of an intensive teaching week at one of the partner universities and project work with students from other universities.
